Feminism related art

This can represent several things one interpretation which I have considered is that it can represent when a woman is giving birth as it can not only provide a home for the child for 9 months prior to the birth, but it can also give off a meaning that the women of the 50’s and 60’s never really stopped no matter what, they also went shopping and cleaned the home as they often never had a job, but they did this no matter what.

Feminism related art

This is the tent which Emin used for her piece, this again is very unusual piece as it pushed the boundaries of what was done before, this would go against everything what was stereotypically ‘lady like’ as many people used to and in some cases think that a woman should not express who she has had sexual encounters with as it is very ‘unladylike’

The war on terror

This is a novel based upon the aftermath of 9/11 and focuses specifically on a young boy who lost his father during the attack on the world trade centre and shows how the young boy deals with what happened on 9/11 and focusing on what happened around the events.

Terrorism related art

This image represents again New York city during the time of September the 11th and the terrorist attacks on the twin towers, these have been represented by demons with wings, which a lot of the public would have thought the planes were demons and sent to cause panic and turmoil for the public. it also shows bodies on the floor and some firefighters or volunteers helping to recover the injured and bodies of the dead from the wreckage.

Terrorism related art

This image shows how some people's different representations or ideas about 9/11 as this one shows two children blindfolded about to throw a model airplane at two people stood representing the twin towers and the image ultimately shows what happened on 11th of September at the world trade centre and there are people on the floor, possibly representing the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks or possibly the rest of new york city as the buildings were weeping for their city.

Research

Another example of propaganda posters which i have found is this one by F.G Sugelhard, this poster is from world war 1 and was used in Germany to discredit the Russians, but it was more of a tool to scare the civilians of Germany into thinking that Russia could rejoin the war.

This blog is extremely helpful when i am looking for new materials and new ideas for the project
http://blog.guerrillacomm.com/

Follow this link and you will see some campaigns which have inspired me to think of doing this kind of campaign within my work.
This video shows how marketing has evolved into guerrilla marketing over the years it also shows me insight on how i could create a penultimate final piece of work for my project or just inspire me to actually create my own product and market it as my project.

Brief outline possibilities

I am focusing on the political, government influences on artists, graphic designers, I asked myself the question; how have artists, and designers reacted to different times in history, when major political uprisings and events occurred? Through a question I found out that several other artists work had been affected by the government and political influences, artists which I have chosen are two street artists, Shepard Fairey and Mr. Brainwash. I also choose two artists who pushed the boundaries of their time in some way they are, Pablo Picasso and Barbara Kruger. I have the intention to actually create a campaign poster and leaflet for an art exhibition, I will focus on these artists styling’s but I will also include the design format of the propaganda posters of World War 1 and 2. I will base the exhibition styling on the matter of political and government icons possibly or actually base it off the artists themselves. This can be linked also with the fact that the street artists of the modern era are actually creating their own version of propaganda posters, this could be to actually rebel against the government or to actually create slander towards political parties or specific politicians. If i were to go down this path i could create my own poster designs as it is not exactly legal to create street art but i can adopt the stylings of street art to create my poster. There is also the possibility that i could use the stylings of Picasso to create the posters through Dada style art, to add effect for when people actually see it and stand and actually take in the impact of the work; this is similar to the work of Barbara Kruger as her works gives off a very strong impact, and can cause people to actually stop and think about the work instead of them just glancing at the work.

Artist research

This is a life sized version of a childhood memory, and vintage matchbox toys with a feel of inspiration, as a lot of the time children wanted to pretend to be giants or be shrunk down extremely small, this would give the people at the gallery that chance to actually reminisce or relive their cherished childhood memories.

Artist Research

Jim Morrison in broken vinyl, created by Mr. Brainwash for one of his exhibitions, he also created numerous other artist from this style, his works include artists such as Jay-z, Biggie smalls (Notorious B.I.G), Barry White, James brown etc.

Inspiration for artist responses

This inspired me for the foreground of the image and to mix the artistic presence of this work with the artistic presence of one of Mr. Braainwash's pieces of work shown below.
